King Abdulaziz University organized the Media Bridge Forum at the Literary and Cultural Club, which discussed the journey of development of institutional communication and its impact on shaping the image, as part of the graduation project for female students of the Department of Public Relations at the College of Communication and public relations. The forum held a dialogue session with the Dr. Heba Jamal, former Dean of the College of Advertising at the UBT, Assistant Professor in digital Marketing,and presenter of the programs (Kalam Nawaem and Saydati talk shows). The topic of the session was about the image in the media and digital marketing, within the framework of the societal role that Dr. Heba participates in at the level of marketing and media. She was thanked and honored at the conclusion of the forum.
In an initiative highlighting the role of education in promoting health and sports, the University of Business and Technology was honored to host a key visit from the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Sports. We reaffirm the university's commitment to advancing sustainable health and sports programs. A friendly basketball match between the university's team and Jeddah United Club was a highlight of this visit.
The Insurance and Risk Management Department, through the insurance club, organized a special event for insurance celebrating the insurance sector by assigning an entire day under the title “Insurance Day”. Insurance companies such as Malath and Salama, presented their products and introduced students to various types of insurance offered by their companies. In the presence of the department’s students to increase insurance awareness within the university. Moreover, various presentations made by some specialists in the insurance sector, including Mr. Mazen Almazni – Underwriting Manager General Insurance at Aljazira Takaful Company – who delivered a presentation entitled “Insurance Types in the Saudi Market” Ms. Reem Alshehri – Regulatory Compliance Officer at Aljazira Takaful Company - who delivered a presentation entitled “Career Passion” Mr. Feras Tammar – Senior Manager Western Region Office and the insurance department’s advisory board member - who delivered a presentation entitled “Your Career Starts Here” Students expressed how much they gained from the valuable information presented to them, as well as the fact that the event had a positive effect on their motivation to join the department and work in the insurance industry. In the closing ceremony, members of the insurance department club were honored for making the event a success by the Head of the department Dr. Reweda Tobar, department faculty Dr. Moamen Ali, and the attendance of Vice Dean Dr. Ramzia Albakri.
Mr. Zuhair Almaghrabi, Panda's Chief HR Officer, and Abdullah Alsaban, Panda's Chief Operations Officer, visited UBT and met with CBA, accompanied by their team members. As part of their meetings, they met with the college Dean, Dr. Haneen Shoib, the Vice Deans, Dr. Ramzia Albakri and Dr. Bandar AlTubaish, as well as the heads of the Retail Dr. Hatem Garamoun and Supply Chain departments, Dr. Karim Soliman, and the Head of the Industry Relations Unit, Dr. Alaa Lary. The primary focus of the meeting was to explore venues of collaboration, specifically tailored to their business needs servicing UBT's students. The meeting also delved into the retail sector in Saudi Arabia, with particular attention given to Panda's significant presence in the industry. The guests discussed the industry's requirements and provided valuable insights into the skills and qualifications the retail major should offer to attract students. Particularly in preparing students for employment at Panda's head office. CBA embraced these suggestions and expressed their commitment to a fruitful collaboration. A tour of the UBT facilities concluded the meeting.
UBT participated in the International Conference on Business and Technology, represented by Prov. Ahmed Elmasry, a faculty member of the College of Business Administration Finance Department. Prof. Elmasry served as the chairperson for two sessions at the conference. Additionally, one of his research papers titled "ESG controversies, geopolitical risk, and the cost of capital: the moderating role of gender diversity" was accepted for presentation at the Conference on Business and Technology (Scopus indexed). The conference was organized by the EuroMid Academy of Business and Technology and hosted by the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom from April 19 to 20, 2024.
The Islamic Development Bank conducted the IsDB 12th Youth Development Forum 2024 on 25 April 2024 in which students and faculty members of The University of Business and Technology attended. The forum focused on Youth Empowerment and Resilience. The topics discussed were very insightful and engaging to students and faculty, with the most poignant statement being “youth represent 25% of our population, but 100% of the future”. UBT's presence demonstrated their commitment to the forum's themes, recognizing the crucial role of youth in shaping the future.
Today, the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah hosted a security scientific symposium within the “Prevention Ambassadors in University Environments” initiative, one of the initiatives of the second phase of the “Be Aware” initiative, which comes under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of the Makkah Region. The honorable one, and under the follow-up of his deputy, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, with the participation of 10 universities in the region, to fortify society against the scourge of drugs, strengthen community partnerships, and benefit from educational cadres and university expertise in raising community awareness. The symposium focused on four main axes, including the security, social, health, and psychological axes, during which the speakers stressed the importance of intensifying public awareness of the dangers of drugs and enhancing cooperation between various parties to reduce their spread, reviewing the risks of drugs and their dimensions on society and the importance of intensifying public awareness and family follow-up of their children on a permanent basis, noting The main objectives of the “Be Aware” initiative, which seeks to raise security awareness among male and female students to prevent drug crimes and achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by strengthening partnership and cooperation between the Narcotics Control Directorate and universities in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region in the fields of scientific research and enhancing society’s immunity from the scourge of drugs through... (Quality of Life) program. The participants in the symposium presented six recommendations that included raising the level of awareness among male and female students about the danger and harm of drugs from the security, health, psychological, and social aspects, contributing to reducing the rate of crimes resulting from drug abuse in the university environment, contributing to a decrease in the rate of abuse in university environments, and activating the role of universities towards enhancing research. Scientific research in drug prevention, spreading the culture of awareness through the ambassadors who benefit from the initiative, and contributing to achieving the concept of quality of life as one of the primary outcomes of Vision 2030.
The University of Business and Technology participated as an official sponsor of the Eid Carnival for hospitalized patients at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Jeddah on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. The Eid carnival included various entertainment activities such as songs, competitions, and games that were suitable for the health condition of the hospitalized patients. The patients and their families expressed their gratitude for this generous gesture, which brought smiles and joy to everyone’s hearts.
Dr. Ayth bin Ibrahim Al-Mubarak, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Center for Family Businesses, paid a visit to the University of Business and Technology (UBT) at Corniche Campus on Monday, April 22, 2024. The purpose of the visit was to discuss ways of collaboration between the center and the university in the areas of scientific research, executive training, and social responsibility. Dr. Weam Husni Tunisi, the President of UBT, offered a detailed tour of the four colleges at the university which include the College of Business Administration, Jeddah College of Engineering, Jeddah College of Advertising, and the Jeddah College of Law. The tour was followed by a detailed meeting to discuss ways to develop this strategic partnership. The meeting with Dr. Ayth bin Ibrahim Al-Mubarak was attended by Dr. Weam Husni Tunisi, the president of UBT; Dr. Mahmoud Omar Ba-Eissa, Consultant to the Chair of the Board of Trustees; Dr. Ruaa Omar Bin Saddiq, Dean of Scientific Research; Dr. Liela Ahmed Jamjoom, Director of Community Responsibility Center; and Dr. Kholoud Yousef Bajunaid, Director of the Training Center.
In a promising effort to enhance academic collaboration, The University of Business and Technology hosted Mr. Salmaan Faraz, representing Northeastern University. The visit featured insightful discussions with UBT colleges' Deans into potential collaborative ventures for both institutions. Commencing with a comprehensive tour of UBT's advanced facilities, Mr. Faraz gained firsthand insight into its infrastructure. Dr. Ruaa BinSaddig, the Dean of Scientific Research, highlighted the university's achievements, followed by Mr. Faraz's presentation on Northeastern's academic heritage and programs. The meeting facilitated fruitful dialogue with the Deans of the University of Business & Technology, exploring joint research, student exchanges, faculty development and curriculum revamp. It concluded with a shared commitment to leverage strengths for collective growth, marking a significant milestone in the relationship between the two universities and signaling a promising future of collaboration and success.
