The University of Business and Technology is proud of the active participation of the College of Business Administration (CBA) for the invitation extended by the royal commission for Riyadh City, to attend specialized workshops related to the development of the strategy of the luxury retail sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This choice comes because the College of Business Administration is distinguished by offering the first and only Bachelor's program of its kind specialized in retail management in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The college was represented by Dr. Ramzia Al-Bakri, Dr. Bandar Al-tubaishi and the head of the retail department Dr. Hatem Garamoun; they participants have all shared the current situation, opportunities and challenges in the sector and shared their views with the government and private sector to develop the retail sector system to suit the ambitions of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia Vision 2030. The Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Haneen Mohammed Shoaib, thanked the great support of the University administration to link academic programs with the industry so that the programs keep pace with the continuous development that suits local and international developments. She also thanked the college delegation participating in the workshops, and confirmed the University's great pride in the University graduate participating in the workshops, Ameen Aqeel, who holds the position of regional director of human resources at Louis Vuitton international company, wishing all graduates and students of the University continued success.
The Finance Club at the College of Business Administration organized a workshop in collaboration with the Software Engineering Department, where students from the Software Engineering Department shared their expertise in graphic design. This was in an effort to foster collaboration between students with diverse skills and their colleagues. Two of these students, Mr. Sultan Alkendi and Ms. Shahad Altash, led an engaging session on design principles using Canva, which attendees then put into practice. The workshop was well-received, with participants creating stunning designs. At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Ramzia Albakri, the Vice Dean of CBA, presented certificates of appreciation to the two students in recognition of their contributions and efforts.
The College of Business Administration, with support from the Industry Relations Unit and the Department of Human Resources Management, held a workshop titled "Navigating Change: Adapting and Thriving in a Dynamic Business Environment" on Monday, May 7th . Students and faculty attended the event, which took place at the College of Business Administration. The workshop was led by Ms. Najat Al-Somali, the Regional Business Partner for Human Resources Management at Johnson Controls Arabia. Throughout the session, students actively engaged and expressed their admiration through continuous interaction and questioning, which greatly enhanced the dialogue. At the conclusion of the workshop, the College's Dean, Dr. Haneen Shoaib, expressed her gratitude to the speaker and all involved in organizing, participating, and attending the valuable lecture.
The College of Business Administration at UBT, represented by the Accounting Department, organized a celebration for International Management Accounting Day. The event featured distinguished speakers from the industry, including Mr. Ghaith Fayez, Director of Internal Audit at Al Balad Development Company, along with three partners from PwC Middle East, and Mr. Firas Al-Abwa, Chief Financial Officer of OMACO Group. Additionally, Mr. Khaled Idris discussed the certificates offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) and the promising opportunities it provides for students in their future careers. In addition, Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mandour, Business Development Manager at ACCA, spoke about professional certificates. The event was attended by faculty members of the Accounting Department and more than 60 male and female students who benefited from the informative lectures given by the guests and learned from their valuable experiences.
The College of Business Administration at the University of Business and Technology, in collaboration with the Industry Relations Unit and the Department of Human Resources Management, has partnered with Tamr Group for the final project of the Organizational Design and Development course. This project aims to create 85 new job roles within Tamr Group, with students from the course tasked with developing detailed descriptions for each role. Driven by the core values of the University of Business and Technology, this collaboration seeks to provide students with unique and transformative learning experiences that prepare them holistically for work and life. The emphasis is on hands-on learning, enabling students to develop a deeper understanding of real-world settings. By working closely with industry experts from Tamr Group, students will gain valuable insights into finance and business operations. The project offers them an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical situations, refining their skills in job analysis and strategic thinking. The resulting job roles will showcase the expertise of the University's student.Ms. Maqboolah Al-Hakim, a distinguished graduate of the Human Resources Department at the University of Business and Technology and currently employed at Tamr Group, expresses her enthusiasm for this collaboration. She believes that leveraging the fresh perspectives and talent of students will enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and agility within the organization. The project highlights the significance of teamwork between academia and industry in fostering innovation and preparing future leaders for success in the business world.
The Vice Dean of the College of Business Administration (Northern Obhur), Dr. Bandar Altubaishe, represented the College of Business Administration by attending the third conference of colleges of administrative sciences at universities in the GCC countries, held at King Saud University in Riyadh in Hamad Al-Jasser Hall, under the slogan: “The Impact of Digital Transformation on the Economy and Business,” sponsored by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan. The conference included a variety of enriching dialogue sessions and workshops, in addition to distinguished scientific sessions.The Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Haneen Shoaib, confirmed the University’s emphasis to participate in scientific forums that increase opportunities for sharing expertise and experiences in the field of digital transformation, and to enhance cooperation between Universities and academic institutions.
The Saudi ADHD Society and Waad Health and Wellbeing Center organized an awareness campaign on attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder at the University of Business and Technology on Wednesday, May 8th 2024. The campaign included an introduction on the disorder and raising awareness about the role educators and students can play towards individuals with ADHD. Additionally, The Saudi ADHD Society provided an overview of the programs and services offered to individuals with ADHD. We express our gratitude to UBT engineer student Abdulaziz Al-Saraj for his efforts in organizing this campaign at the University of Business and Technology.
The University of Business and Technology was honored to host Dr. Majdah Mohammed Aburas, as an inspiring guest speaker in environmental sustainability on Wednesday May 1st 2024. The lecture was organized by the Community Responsibility Center at the university as part of the “UBT to Community” series highlighting key figures in community and social development. Dr. Majdah Aburas is a leading environmental expert and strategist, holding a distinguished Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Environmental Microbiology from the University of Surrey UK. Dr. Aburas is the first woman in the Kingdom to specialize in the treatment of crude oil pollution in soil, and she has played a pivotal role in raising the level of public environmental awareness on a national and international level. During her speech, Dr. Aburas discussed her educational journey, career, and her deep-rooted sense of environmental and community responsibility. She emphasized the pivotal role individuals and households play towards the environment and called for the adoption of eco-friendly household practices focusing on waste reduction and energy and water conservation. Notably, she highlighted that households are responsible for approximately one third of all food waste, underscoring the significance of the issue. “It is our responsibility as a community to work together to build an eco-friendlier world, we need to stop pointing the finger at industry and see what we can do to make a difference.”Dr. Aburas also discussed the importance of developing an environmental mindset, which are core elements embedded within our Islamic religion and are key strategic pillars to economic and social development. This entails developing sustainable consumption practices by choosing products with minimal environmental impact, supporting companies with sustainable practices, buying locally, and accurately purchasing the amount of products needed to reduce waste. Dr. Aburas’s goal to support the adoption of sustainable consumption also led her to start her own sustainable fashion line with OT KUTYR Fashion House, highlighting the diversity and breadth of her environmental initiatives. Dr. Aburas left UBT students, faculty, and staff with some wonderful pieces of advice to live by: “Be someone who takes initiative, stay positive, and nothing is impossible - don’t wait for things to happen, and be empowered to be the change.” We extend our thanks to the distinguished Dr. Majida Abu Ras for honoring us and granting us the opportunity to learn about her environmental initiatives and remarkable achievements.
Ibn Sina medical students, in collaboration with Motmaena Clinic, organized an awareness campaign titled “Don’t be ashamed and seek consultation” on Wednesday, May 8th 2024. The campaign aimed to raise awareness on the importance of mental and psychological health, and emphasized the role of building healthy practices in order to enhance physical and mental well-being.
UBT student and founder of Techno- group 3D Printing Business, Mr. Fahad Habib, shared his passion for the 3D printing field, which led him to develop his own 3D printer which had been awarded five patents. He brought and displayed for the audience. During the lecture, and in the presence of his biggest supporter, his father, Mr. Ahmed Habib, who attended, Mr. Fahad discussed the inception of his idea, its development, the manufacturing process, and his plans to establish a factory in the future. The students in the Entrepreneurship course taught by Dr. Liela Jamjoom, who we thank for her continued support, had the opportunity to learn from his experiences and draw inspiration from his achievements. Fahad advised them to persevere, regardless of the challenges they may face.The event was organized by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit at the CBA represented by Ms. Lina Kutbi concurrently with World Intellectual Property Day
