MESSAGE FROM THE Director of Communication & IT Application Development
Over the last two decades, we have witnessed enormous development in the field of information technology, changes of which have significantly impacted our lives. Information technology is currently playing an increasingly vital element in life, learning, teaching, research, and business in higher education. It aids in professional development activities, enhances students’ communication & learning facilities, faculty and staff experience, simplifies communication and collaboration, adds positive effects on the instructional process, empowers our daily lives, and inspires us in innovation. In this sense, the role of the IT & Communications Department at UBT is extremely important, as it is the basis for development and conducting work throughout all sections and departments of the university.
At UBT, the use of information technology has grown tremendously across all activities in daily work over the past decade (i.e., from the beginning of the founding of the Institute of Business Administration-IBA in 2001). Information technology permeates every aspect of our academic and operational environments, beginning with the first contact students have with the university’s website, to the administrative and learning systems that become part of the students’ daily lives.
Additionally, we now see that these new and increasingly complex technologies have the potential to create disruption, duplication, and disappointment due to lack of careful planning and coordination. Fortunately, at UBT, we have a good history of campus collaboration in developing technology plans. Prioritization and coordination of technology planning and implementation ensures that UBT students, faculty, and staff have the combination of skills, knowledge, and technology to thrive.
Finally, we in the IT department appreciate the opportunity to serve all UBT members, and we are continuously committed to providing everyone with excellent service. Any useful ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
Sincerely,
Director of Communication & IT Application Development.
