The TechnoValley at the University of Business and Technology (UBT) has recently become a member of the prestigious International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP). This membership marks a significant milestone in UBT’s journey towards fostering innovation, research, and international collaboration. The International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) is a global network that connects science parks and innovation districts worldwide. Founded in 1984, IASP promotes the growth and effectiveness of these areas through various activities, including knowledge exchange, networking opportunities, and collaborative projects. UBT has long been committed to advancing research and innovation in various fields. By joining IASP, UBT aims to leverage the resources, knowledge, and global network of the association to enhance its own research capabilities and foster a culture of innovation among its students and faculty.
The University of Business and Technology (UBT) offered a one-week intensive training course to the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah on communications, marketing, advertising, community responsibility, and volunteering (May 19-23, 2024). The training program was organized by the Community Responsibility Center and the Training Center at UBT. The training program began on its first day with a course on communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills presented by Dr. Khalid Al-Shohaib, an Associate Professor and consultant at the Jeddah College of Advertising, UBT. The course highlighted the importance of communication in our daily and professional lives.On the second day, the program continued with a course on marketing skills presented by Dr. Raef Abdennadher, an Assistant Professor of marketing and advertising strategies at the Jeddah College of Advertising, UBT. Dr. Raef discussed the importance of marketing, the stages and steps of marketing, developing a successful marketing plan, and the role of marketing in supporting Vision 2030. The training program proceeded on its third day with a course on advertising skills presented by Dr. Raef Abdennadher. The course included definitions of advertising, an explanation of its relationship with promotion, as well as an overview of the characteristics and elements of advertising campaigns. A practical application was conducted through the review of various advertising models. On the fourth day of the training, Dr. Kamal Shaaban Abdelaal, the Community Responsibility Advisor at Abdul Latif Jameel Company, conducted a training course on building corporate social responsibility plans, addressing corporate social responsibility definitions, dimensions, and how to plan and design community initiatives.The training program concluded on its fifth and final day with a session by Ms. Abrar Al-Jilani, the volunteering advisor at Ghadan Consulting Company, with a course on creating and managing volunteering opportunities, discussing the importance of activating volunteering initiatives in the Kingdom and ways to design volunteer opportunities professionally.The program ended with an honorary ceremony for the General Directorate of Education staff in Jeddah. All attendees expressed their satisfaction with the program, confirming the university’s role in developing and investing in the human capital of various fields and sectors to achieve Vision 2030. Mr. Humod Al-Sqiran, the Advisor and Spokesperson for the General Directorate of Education, expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all staff of UBT in general and to the Community Responsibility Center and the Training Center in particular for hosting and executing this course efficiently and diligently.

This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both institutions to drive innovation, enhance academic collaboration, and contribute to regional growth.UBT is renowned for its commitment to excellence in education, research, entrepreneurship, and community service. With a vision to cultivate leaders and innovators, UBT has consistently achieved milestones that position it at the forefront of higher education in the region.Jeddah Valley plays a pivotal role as King AbdulAziz University's investment arm, focusing on fostering connections between academia and industry. Its mission to promote sustainable development and economic diversification aligns perfectly with the objectives of this new partnership.The MoU signing ceremony, held on May 29, 2024, at UBT Corniche Campus, witnessed the presence of distinguished leaders from both institutions. Representing UBT were Dr. Weam Tunsi, Dr. Mahmoud Baeissa, Dr. Hatem Baaqil, Dr. Saeed Al Sheikh, Dr. Basma ElZein and Dr. Ruaa bin Sedeeq. From Jeddah Valley, the attendees included Dr. Sattam Linjawi, Mr. Omar Al Ghamdi, Mr. Omar Yamani, Mr. Hussein Eid, Mr. Yasser AlKathiri, Mr. Mohamed Ashour, and Mr. Waleed Mehana. Each of these leaders underscored the significance of this collaboration in their speeches, highlighting the promising future and shared goals of both institutions. The MoU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including: * Practical training programs according to the requirements of the programs of the faculties of engineering, business administration, advertising, and law * Field studies and field trips for students * Professional development for faculty members and students * Joint education, scientific, and collaborative research projects * Joint investment projects * Joint startups * Collaborative incubators and accelerators * Exchanging knowledge and experiences by participating in organizing events, seminars, and workshops * Exchange of informationMembers from both institutions will have opportunities to engage in groundbreaking projects, participate in exchange programs, and benefit from practical training and field studies. Additionally, this collaboration is expected to spur economic growth by fostering joint startups, investment projects, and the establishment of incubators and accelerators.The MoU between UBT and Jeddah Valley marks a milestone in the journey towards a more integrated and innovative educational ecosystem. This strategic partnership holds immense promise, paving the way for new opportunities and a brighter future for both institutions and the wider community.
The College of Business Administration at the University of business and technology is proud of its distinguished graduate from the Department of Human Resources Management (Latifa Momena), CEO and founder of the Wesal Alkhair horseback Riding Academy for people with special needs. At the opening ceremony of the Academy and in the presence of one of the graduate teachers, Ms. Huda Alkhalidi, Latifa mentioned in her speech that she started charity work when she was volunteering with the University of business and technology to complete the 100 volunteer hour as a graduation requirement, at the Open Skies Foundation, which was founded by the late Ms. Judy Hory, a former faculty member of the English Language Academy at the University, who supported, taught and encouraged Latifa to love charity work and who trained her. And now, with pride, she took up the message and began to establish an Academy and a charity on her own. UBT is proud of the outputs of the University and their dedication to volunteer work and how they are giving back to the community. It is a true pride to see the positive effects spreading from students and graduates to the whole community.
Under the patronage and honor of His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah, the honoring ceremony for the Jeddah Health City project was held at the University of Business and Technology in the presence of His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Wiam Tunisi, His Excellency Dr. Lina Al-Maeena, Member of the University’s Board of Trustees, President of the Jeddah United Club, and His Excellency the Director of the Responsibility Center. Community Dr. Laila Jamjoom During this momentous ceremony, the collective efforts of government and private agencies, civil society institutions, and individuals were celebrated. Their invaluable contributions led to the city obtaining the international accreditation certificate provided by the World Health Organization, marking it as one of the international global health cities and the largest health city in the East. The University of Business and Technology and Jeddah United were particularly honored for their significant roles in this achievement. The Healthy Cities Program, a World Health Organization initiative, was recognized for its aim to improve the quality of life and prioritize health in development projects. The World Health Organization policy indicates the necessity of re-evaluating cities on the accreditation certificate every three years to ensure the development and improvement of the program’s performance. Thus, the University of Business and Technology confirms its commitment to improving the surrounding environment and building a healthy society that aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.
The University of Business and Technology, represented by the College of Advertising, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Saudi Media Academy during the Ignite The ADs event held in Riyadh at the King Abdullah Financial Center during the period from May 28 - 31. The agreement includes cooperation in the field of cooperative training, establishing academic programs, providing advisory services, cooperation in holding workshops and other fields. The university was represented at the signing by Dr Hatoon Zuhair Kadi, Dean of the College of Advertising, and from the Academy by His Excellency Engineer Khaled Zain Al-Abidin, CEO of the Academy. These agreements come within efforts to enhance communication with relevant authorities and decision makers, which ensures that the university keeps pace with the requirements of the labor market and provides opportunities for students, and also ensures continuous access to events and movement in all relevant fields.
In alignment with the objectives of the College of business administration aimed at keeping pace with the latest practical and technical practices in the field of human resources and creating institutional partnerships with the College in particular and the University of Business and Technology in general, the College of Business Administration, represented by Dr. Ahmed Asfahani, associate professor at the Department of human resources and Dr. Ala Lary, assistant professor at the Department of human resources and the Head of the Industry Relations Unit at the College, participated in the HRSE HR Summit and EXPO Conference and Exhibition held in Riyadh, which includes the most prominent human resources leaders at the local and international levels. During the conference, they noted the most prominent scientific techniques and the best modern practices in human resources in order to transfer these practices and techniques to University students. In addition, a number of companies were consulted during the exhibition for the possibility of future partnerships with the University to benefit the students’ academic experience.
A group of 40 students from the Supply Chain and Industrial Engineering departments of UBT had an educational visit to Unilever's in Jeddah, the trip was organized by the Industry Relations Unit As a part of an ongoing effort to bridge academic learning and industry practice. Starting a briefing on health and safety protocols led by Unilever’s Safety Manager, emphasizing the importance of safety measures during the visit. Mr. Mohannad Rizq, Factory Manager for Unilever KSA, initiated the session with a detailed overview of the manufacturing supply chain operations in Jeddah. His insights provided the students with a real-world perspective on the complexities and dynamics of supply chain management. Adding an international dimension to the learning experience, Shailendra Sadera, Head of Supply Chain B&W for Unilever Europe, ME, Turkey, and ANZ, shared his extensive journey and experiences at Unilever. Notably, this visit marked Mr. Sadera's first day in Saudi Arabia, highlighting his enthusiasm for engaging with the next generation of supply chain professionals. The session continued with insights from Mahmoud Abdel-Naby, Head of Supply Chain B&W Middle East & Turkey, further enriching the students' understanding of the field. At the conclusion of the visit, the students impressed Unilever managers with thoughtful and insightful questions, demonstrating their keen interest and understanding of the industry. At the end, Dr. Karim Soliman, Head of the Supply Chain Management Department, and Dr. Noor Al-Maaitah, a faculty member at the Supply Chain Department, presented certificates of appreciation to the Unilever managers on behalf of UBT, Highlighting the importance of industry-academic collaboration and its mutual benefits.
Under the esteemed supervision of His Excellency Dr. Weam Tunsi, President of UBT, and in the presence of Dr. Fahad Aldhaban, Vice President for Digital Services, and Dr. Yussra Jamjoom, Vice President for Corniche Campus, alongside the respected Deans of UBT, distinguished legal professionals from the Makkah region, faculty members of the JCL, and the families of participating students, the Jeddah College of Law (JCL) hosted a Law Competition on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The competition was overseen by His Excellency Dr. Hani bin Abdulhamid Al-Juhdali, Dean of the JCL and Legal Consultant to the University and organized by Dr. Fahd bin Hamoud Al-Naif Al-Huqbani, Assistant Professor of Private Law at the College of Law. This event was designed to enrich the educational environment by fostering creativity and innovation among students.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative to enhance cooperation between public and private Universities, and based on the keenness of the University of Business and Technology (UBT) in Jeddah to meet the goals aspired by the Kingdom’s leadership for strengthening areas of cooperation within various government and private sectors. Due to the status and heritage of King Abdulaziz University, on both the regional and international levels, the University of business and technology was honored to extend an invitation to the Deans of the Faculty of Economics and management, the Faculty of engineering, the Faculty of communication and media and the Faculty of law to visit the University of business and technology in its building on the Corniche on Thursday, May 09, 2024, and meet their counterparts from the deans of the same faculties at the university to discuss aspects of educational, academic and research cooperation and Exchange joint experiences in various fields that support the development of the educational system and serve science students under the continuation of a solid future cooperation that achieves the vision of the kingdom 2023 . The visit was crowned with success, as it provided an opportunity to discuss many ideas that enhance joint cooperation between the two universities through academic and research cooperation and the exchange of joint experiences in various fields that support the development of the educational system and serve science students in light of an ambitious national vision.
