The College of Business Administration, represented by the Human Resources Management Department conducted a field trip to Reza Food Services Co. (McDonald's) for the HRM department students. This field trip visit was attended by a group of university students to develop their practical understanding of techniques in human resources management and learn about real-world applications in this field. This invitation was made by the Human Resources Management Club under the supervision of Dr. Megren Altassan and Ms. Renad Zawawi from the Human Resources Management Department at the College of Business Administration and in cooperation with the Industry Relations Unit represented by Dr. Alaa Lary and the team & attended by Dr. Sarah Zakour, a faculty member in UBT. During the visit the students had a valuable opportunity to see the work style followed at McDonald's, which contributed to expanding their scope of basic business applications, as they gained direct real-world experience to link what they learned academically to reality, in addition to knowing how to go beyond practical experiences and manage the work environment in general. This visit gave the students the opportunity to communicate directly with an elite group of managers and officials in the Human Resources Department at McDonald's and to dialogue with Mr. Bander Nabil Mandili (Human Resources Manager) who talks about an overview of Human Resources Management and an introduction about McDonald's International and McDonald's Western & Southern Regions and Tabuk, and then our graduate of the Human Resources Management Department and the College of Business Administration, Ms. Yara Saud Al-Damanhouri (TMA Lead) spoke about the company's vision and values, talent acquisition, talent management, recruitment journeys, employee retention, performance motivation, performance indicators and some of the company's achievements. Then Mr. Abdullah Saud Alareeni (HRBP Consultant) spoke about the Human Resources Management operations, and then Mr. Fahad Mahmoud Shayif (Operations People Supervisor) spoke about the Human Resources Admin and the Employee Value Proposition - EVP. In support of the initiative, Prof. Haneen Shoaib, Dean of the College of Business Administration, emphasized the college’s commitment to bridging academic knowledge with industry practice. She noted that such collaborations are instrumental in equipping students with essential skills, competencies, and a deeper understanding of industry expectations, preparing them for success in today’s competitive job market. Prof. Haneen further expressed the college’s dedication to fostering similar partnerships to strengthen students’ professional readiness and broaden their career opportunities.
The University of Business and Technology's College of Business Administration represented by the Marketing Department organized a workshop about Sports Marketing under the supervision of Dr. Kholod Aggad and supported by the Marketing Department Head of Department, Dr. Sharifah Ahmad. The workshop was led by Mr. Moammar Salam, Sales Director at Saudi Motorsports. The workshop was conducted on the 21st of October 2024 at the UBT Corniche campus. The workshop is directly related to Marketing as well as Sports Management students, as he spoke in detail about sports marketing strategies and distinguished two important concepts - “sport of marketing” and “sport through marketing”. He also provided various examples from the sports industry to illustrate his points. His interesting points and engaging talk gave valuable insights into the marketing practices in Sports industry. The Marketing Department and the College of Business Administration thank Mr. Moammar for his support in imparting his vast knowledge and experience in this increasingly important industry in the Kingdom. Special appreciation is also given to Dr. Masheal Batarfi and Dr. Marko Begovic from the Sports Management Department for their valuable participation and for encouraging students to attend and engage in the session. The Marketing Department also thank Ms. Manar Malik, a Marketing graduate, for her valuable support for this event.
In the effective participation of the College of Advertising in the Athar Festival over four days between the involvement of students in the Athar Academy for Youth and the participation of the college as an academic partner and sponsor of the festival, the team of students from the College of Advertising, Lana Al-Ghanem, and Anhar Asti, won the Athar Creative Academy competition. We are very proud of our students’ constant excellence in all forums.
The University of Business and Technology's College of Business Administration represented by the Marketing department organized a workshop titled "From Vision to Execution: Managing Iconic Brands" under the supervision of Dr. Sharifah Ahmad, Head of the Marketing Department. The workshop was led by Ms. Haneen AlMufregh, an Account Executive at Memac Ogilvy, who is also a UBT graduate from the Bachelor of Science in Marketing program. The workshop was conducted on the 4th of November 2024 at the UBT Corniche campus to an audience of marketing and business students. Ms. Haneen spoke in detail about her experience in managing various brands in terms of the creative brief and campaign execution. She also imparted valuable knowledge to students who are about to go for Coop training with tips on their CVs and how to work with clients. The students benefitted from the workshop as it gave them a glimpse into the practices in a Marketing agency and the marketing field. The Marketing Department thank Ms. Haneen for her interest in the development of students' marketing skills and preparation for the workplace. Special appreciation is also given to the organizers from CBA for their support.
90 UBT English Language students and staff visited the IKEA Jeddah Showroom for an extracurricular activity. IKEA was chosen because its sustainability strategy is aligned with the strategy of UBT as well as the National Geographic Learning Curriculum used by UBT Academy. Throughout the tour, the fantastic staff of IKEA Jeddah focused the conversation around healthy and sustainable living. After the tour, students enjoyed a complimentary lunch in the IKEA Restaurant, followed by a writing activity; in the coming days, students will do presentations around their takeaways from the activity. IKEA also gave thoughtful gift bags to all attendees, which included, among other items, a reusable shopping tool, further encouraging students to move towards a sustainable future. UBT Academy would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ghassan Ahmed Al Soliman, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al Soliman Group, for generously hosting our students. The event will surely have a lasting impact on our students.
Students from the Supply Chain Management Department at the University of Business and Technology recently participated in an educational field visit to Binzagr Logistics, designed to enhance their understanding of advanced logistics technologies and operational strategies in a real-world setting. The initiative was organized by Head of Industry Relations Dr. Alaa Lary, under the supervision of the Department Head, Dr. Karim Soliman, with support from faculty members Dr. Mayada Qari and Ms. Maha Basha. During the visit, students were introduced to a range of cutting-edge logistics applications actively used by Binzagr Logistics, including automated inventory systems, data-driven demand forecasting, and streamlined distribution processes. They observed live demonstrations of effective operations management tailored to meet current market demands, providing them with direct exposure to the tools and practices that drive operational efficiency. The experience enabled students to engage directly with industry professionals, allowing for in-depth discussions and insights into the challenges and opportunities facing companies in this rapidly evolving sector. Additionally, students gained firsthand knowledge of how logistics companies like Binzagr adapt to market changes, improve operational performance, and leverage technology to maintain competitive advantage. The delegation of the University of Business and Technology received a VIP invitation from the graduates of the University to attend the Jeddah Motor Show, which is held from 29th of October to 2nd of November at the Jeddah Super-dome. It is worth mentioning the distinguished presence of the University graduates in various companies organizing and participating in the exhibition, including a graduate of the Master's degree in Business Administration, Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi (business manager)at BYD and the graduates of the College of Advertising Ghada Tunsi from PR Arabia and Alana Ashour and Mohammed Ibrahim from Abdul Latif Jameel Motors and many other great graduates.Prof. Haneen Mohammed Shoaib, Dean of the College of Business Administration & Consultant of the President, stressed her great pride in the graduates' participation in such huge national events, as they represent successful role models for their fellow students about the future of work.Also, Associate Professor Dr. Khalid Alshohaib shared his pride in the graduates who were his students several years ago, and today, they are running big roles that deserve all appreciation to achieve the University's slogan: Education for job opportunities and entrepreneurship.
The College of Business Administration hosted a valuable lecture delivered by Mr. Mansour bin Khalid Al Nahdi (Social Development Bank Project Manager - Certified Trainer) entitled (Freelancing and Idea Generation). The lecture aimed to introduce students from various specializations and colleges to the concept of freelancing, who performs freelance work, the personal components of freelancing, why freelancing, the elements of entering the market, and sources of opportunities. The lecture concluded with a Q& A session, which allowed students to interact directly with Mr. Mansour bin Khalid Al Nahdi and seek his personal advice and learn about the financing support opportunities provided by the Social Development Bank to student project owners. The lecture was organized by Dr. Megren Altassan, an associate professor in the Department of Human Resources Management, in collaboration with Dr. Saad Basad, the instructor of the Entrepreneurship course. Dr. Qadri Al-Jabri and Dr. Shadi Al-Omari also attended. About 90 students joined the lecture, and there was significant interaction among them.
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Dr. Sarah Zakour, a distinguished lecturer at the University of Business and Technology, proudly hosted Mr. Abdullah Al-Sabban, Chief Operating Officer of Panda Supermarket, in her Retail Management class. As part of the Misk 2030 initiative, Mr. Al-Sabban delivered an insightful presentation, sharing firsthand knowledge of Panda’s supply chain and retail processes and providing invaluable industry insights to UBT students. This special session offered students a unique chance to interact with a prominent leader in the retail sector, inspiring them to strive for excellence and expand their career aspirations. Dr. Zakour expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Al-Sabban for his generosity in sharing his expertise and passion, noting his dedication to nurturing young talent in the business world.Dr. Zakour also thanked Prof. Haneen Mohammad Shoaib, Dean of the College of Business Administration, for her warm presence and encouragement, which further motivated students. Additionally, she acknowledged Dr. Lina Kutbi for her dedicated support in organizing the event, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for all attendees.
The University of Business and Technology, represented by the College of Business Administration, concluded its Edutainment program through the Alula trip. The University team enjoyed visiting the most important areas in Alula, including the Hajar area, Elephant Mountain, Mirror Theater, Harrat Viewpoint, and the Old City, which deeply influenced their way of thinking by inspiring them to perceive their precious kingdom with new depth. The team saw how international tourists flock from Alula International Airport and were constantly in contact with tourists from all over the world in all areas of Alula, which increased their pride in the kingdom's ability to attract international tourism and hospitality to their beloved country. The trip ended with the building of solid communication bonds of students, where they were in several challenges of time discipline, following directions, teamwork, leadership teams, and continuous learning through Bachelor's & Master's students and Graduates with their Professors, creating an educational system in an innovative entertainment atmosphere.The Dean of the College of Business Administration, Professor Haneen Shoaib, thanks UBT’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Abdullah Dahlan, and the President of UBT, Dr. Weam Tunsi, for their constant support in allowing UBT’s students to embark on all new adventures and craft their leadership personalities to best serve their nation.
